What you need to know
An enrollment certification is an official document proving your current enrollment at MIT. They are sometimes required for scholarships, insurance, internships, or employment. You can obtain one from the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) or from the MIT Registrar’s Office.
An enrollment certification generated at MIT includes:
- Your legal name (from your student record)
- Start and end dates of the current term
- Your level (undergraduate or graduate)
- Your registration load status for the current term
- The degree you are pursuing
- Your expected graduation date
By request, it can also include your cumulative grade point average (GPA), undergraduate quartile class rank, and statement of good academic standing.
An NSC certification includes only the following:
- Your legal name, as found in your student record
- Start and end dates of the current term
- Your registration load status for the current term
- Past enrollment, loan, and loan deferment information
What you need to do
- Complete a request by visiting the National Student Clearinghouse website. Processing time varies.
- Alternately, email records@mit.edu using your @mit.edu email address to authenticate your request.
- Note the type of document you need, the data you wish to include, and the month and year you are expecting to finish your degree program.
- Be sure to provide the name, address, and/or email address where you want the certification sent, along with your current contact information.
- You may choose to have the certification sent via express shipping service at an additional cost.
- Requests to complete third-party forms are typically processed within 24 to 48 hours. In-person requests are completed while you wait.
