What you need to know
The Student Biographic Record is your official record at MIT. It contains important data such as your legal and directory (formerly preferred) names, birthdate, legal sex, and citizenship status along with your term and home addresses. Your student record is used by select offices at MIT for legal, regulatory, and identification purposes.
It is your responsibility to keep your personal information and administrative records up to date in WebSIS. Failure to do so can affect your immigration or visa status or your ability to obtain or defer student loans.
Use the links to the left to update your address; name; gender, legal sex, and pronouns; or other biographic information. You can also take part in the democratic process by using our convenient voter registration application.
