What you need to know
MIT’s online subject evaluation system was launched through a multi-year pilot in 2007. It was developed in partnership with Information Services and Technology (IS&T) to take the place of our long-standing paper system, with the goal of making it easier for students to participate and to provide a more robust data gathering and reporting mechanism for the Institute and the MIT community. Over the course of the project, we worked closely with academic departments, a steering committee, and an advisory group comprised of faculty, staff, and students.
Oversight comes from the Office of the Vice Chancellor. The Registrar’s Office coordinates evaluation processes and works with faculty, staff, and students to deliver a vital system that informs and improves teaching and learning throughout the Institute.
